Bubinga Dining Table

Overview:

Large live-edge Bubinga dining table for a private client just off Buckingham Palace. Cut from a single massive slab, it anchors a long, bright dining space and can be extended when the house fills up with guests. The brief was simple: big, clean and rock-solid.
The legs are attached with a ‘drop-in’ sliding dovetail.

Specifications:

Material: Single solid slab of Bubinga
Size: Oversized dining table to seat 10–12, with a matching extension leaf
Base: Slab panel legs in Bubinga, set in from the ends for plenty of legroom - attached with drop-in sliding dovetail.
Edge detail: Natural live edge retained down both sides
Finish: High-gloss hand finish by a professional French polisher
Location: Private residence, central London (near Buckingham Palace)

Our Role:

We sourced and prepared the Bubinga slab, flattened and detailed it, and engineered the base to support the weight without looking heavy. The extension was built to lock on cleanly when needed and disappear when it’s not in use. Installation was a bit of a mission: we drove down from Lancashire, carried the top and base down a tight stair to the lower ground floor, assembled, levelled and signed off the table, then drove home the same day.

For the final surface we brought in a specialist French polisher to achieve a mirror-flat finish across the whole span.
