Round American cherry dining table with American black walnut accents, made speculatively in our UK workshop and now living in a friend’s home in Kondo.
The soft round form, central split and butterfly keys give it a quiet, Japanese-influenced feel without shouting about it.
Specifications:
• Top: Solid American cherry, round top with softened edge - made one from single live edge piece.
• Accents: American black walnut butterfly keys and central inlay
• Detail: Natural split held with through keys, subtle live edge left on all edges.
• Base: Turned and tapered cherry legs with stretcher
• Finish: Hand-applied osmo finish for a warm, low-sheen surface
• Use: Compact dining table for four, also works as a centre table
Our Role:
This piece started as a self-initiated build: we selected and laid out the cherry boards, decided to keep the natural split running through the middle, and tied it together with walnut inlays.
The round form and leg layout were drawn to sit comfortably in smaller Japanese homes while still feeling generous. We handled everything in-house, design, making and finishing before delivering and installing it locally in Kondo, Niseko.
